Marcelo Ribas, Amanda’s father and himself a martial artist, kickstarted her journey into the world of MMA at a tender age by introducing her to judo and Brazilian jiu-jitsu. Thanks to his early guidance, Amanda earned black belts in both disciplines- setting up an incredibly strong foundation for what would become a successful career in the sport. Impressed by her remarkable performance, UFC signed her up for promotion in 2017.
Ribas faced a setback due to a doping violation that delayed her debut in the UFC. However, she did not let this deter her. In 2019, Ribas made a successful debut by defeating Emily Whitmire. Ribas was then scheduled to face Carla Esparza on UFC 256. But it was later revealed that Esparza had to pull out of the fight due to undisclosed reasons. As a result, Ribas ended up being booked against Michelle Waterson on January 24, 2021, during UFC 257. But Waterson was later forced out of the event and Ribas had to face Marina Rodriguez. She lost that fight via technical knockout in the second round.
