While Witcher 3 is a fairly easy game, the true Witcher experience can only be achieved with the difficulty turning higher. On Death March, for example, you would definitely need these armor sets to actually survive the assault.
In this article, we would list out the top 15 Witcher 3 Best Armors.
Witcher 3 Best Armors
15 - Temerian Armor
This armor set is perfect for low-level characters at the beginning of the game. The Temerian armor set can be purchased in White Orchard, the starting zone of the game, from a vendor next to Woesong Bridge... and you can wear it after reaching level 4.
14 - Niffgaardian Armor
The Niffgardian Armor can be purchased from a merchant in Crow's Perch, the first area after the tutorial ends... and you can wear it at level 10. Both the Temerian and Niffgaardian Armor sets provide balanced stats that are useful on any build. You can also access a special area wearing the Niffgaardian Armor.
13 - Skellige Armor
Otherwise called Unkvik Armor, the Skellige Armor set is a decent mid-game choice, providing lots of balanced stats and protection. It can be purchased from the blacksmith in Kaer Trolde. You can equip this armor after reaching level 16.
12 - Viper Armor Set
This set of armor has the same design as the iconic Kaer Morhen armor set except for the color... and this is why players love to use it. You can find the armor set's blueprints during the quest "Open Sesame" in the Heart of Stone DLC. Overall, the Viper Armor is a mid to late game tier set that you can only acquire after reaching level 35.
11 - Griffin School Armor Set
This is likely to be the first set of Witcher Gear you are able to craft in the game. The blueprints for the pieces of the Griffin School Armor Sets can be found randomly everywhere in Velen, the main area for the story's first arc. The Griffin set is focus on boosting Sign Intensity - if you are building your Geralt based on Signs like Igni or Aard, this set would be the best to wear. Sign builds are not too strong until the very late game and that's why this set is low on the list.
10 - New Moon Armor
Another set from Heart of Stone DLC. The New Moon Armor's overall bonuses are very tame - at about the same tier as other armor sets of that level... however, it has a 25% gold bonus with all pieces equipped. You would literally earn more gold from all sources, which is always useful.
9 - Toussaint Armor
This armor can be acquired from the body of a dead knight in the Lands of a thousand Fables, during Heart of Stone's main quest. It has superb stats with an 1800 vitality bonus on 4 pieces... and the ability to resists Burning, which is perfect against fire monsters.
8 - Toussaint Knight's Tourney Armor
This is the second strongest heavy armor set in the game. While it does not provide many offensive bonuses, the defensive bonuses are superb, with the best being the 2000 increased Vitality if you equip 4 pieces of the set. More HP is always useful in any RPG, and Witcher 3 is not an exception.
7 - Toussaint Ducal Guard Captain's Armor
You can consider this armor the medium version of the Knight's Tourney. While having slightly lower bonuses, the Ducal Guard Captain's Armor has better mobility and let you regain stamina faster. With 4 pieces equipped, you would get a whopping 1600 Vitality.
6 - Tesham Mutna Armor
This armor can be found in the main quest of the DLC Blood and Wine, in which you explore an old vampire stronghold. The main bonus of the armor is its +35% resistance to all damage from monsters - best when you have to fight monster bosses.
5 - Hen Gaidth Armor
This is one of the armor sets that can be missed permanently in the Blood & Wine DLC. You can find the Hen Gaidth Armor in the Unseen Elder's Cave. This set is pretty much the same as the Tesham Mutna Armor, with a slightly stronger armor value and an extra ability: With more than one piece of the set equipped, you would get a life drain bonus - gaining HP on attacks.
4 - Manticore School Armor Set
While the Viper Armor looks like the base set you have at level 1, the Manticore School Armor looks like the base set you have in Witcher 1. This set can only be found in various places in the Blood and Wine DLC and is considered a late-game set. The bonuses of the Manticore armor are for bombs and alchemy.
3 - Ursine School Armor Set
The best heavy armor in the game - the Ursine school armor set is built for a Strong sword style, with super high bonuses on damage resistance and adrenaline point gain. With all set pieces equipped, your Quen Shield would be 3 times stronger than usual.
2 - Feline School Armor Set
The best light armor in the game... and the most popular, as it is built for the common Quick sword style, which every player often use. The Feline School armor set bonus would enable you to get the highest damage output from your swords comparing to any other armor sets.
1 - Wolf School Armor Set
This is pretty much the "master of all trades" style of armor - the best part about this set is that you don't need to have the master-crafted version to craft the grandmaster version in the DLC. The set provides bonus protection against everything, from monsters to elemental attacks... and is perfect if you are trying for a balanced build with everything.
