PHILADELPHIA, PA (CelebrityAccess MediaWire) — The Pennsylvania Convention Center Authority's board of directors has selected SMG to operate the Pennsylvania Convention Center in downtown Philadelphia.
SMG will assume responsibility for managing the operations of the facility within the next three to four months. The Authority hopes to leverage SMG's experience to improve operations so it can attract more conventions, meetings and trade shows.
The effort also includes reviewing the center’s labor-supplier model and work rules and making it easier for customers to understand their bills.
Negotiation over the specifics of SMG's contract are still underway and the company will take over at the venue 60 – 90 days after the contract has been finalized.
The Pennsylvania Convention Center is located in downtown Philadelphia and in 2011, underwent a $787 million dollar renovation and expansion. The Center is now the 14th largest facility in the nation and features 22 Theaters, music, sports and recreation venues, including the largest exhibit space and ballroom in the Northeast. – CelebrityAccess Staff Writers
