Konstantin Koltsov death cause has been reported to be an ‘apparent suicide’, according to CNN.

“According to investigators on Monday, March 18, 2024, at approximately 12:39 a.m., Bal Harbour Police and Fire Rescue were dispatched to the St. Regis Bal Harbour Resort, 9703 Collins Avenue, in reference to a male that jumped from a balcony,” the Miami-Dade Police Department told CNN.

“The Miami-Dade Police Department, Homicide Bureau, responded and has taken over the investigation of the apparent suicide of Mr. Konstantin Koltsov … No foul play is suspected.”

Konstantin Koltsov often traveled the world with his future wife to tennis tournamnets and indeed was in Miami where she was set to compete in the upcoming Miami Open later this week before his tragic demise.

In a statement on Tuesday, his current team Salavat Yulaev said, “It is with deep sorrow that we inform you that the coach of Salavat Yulaev, Konstantin Koltsov, passed away.

“He was a strong and cheerful person, he was loved and respected by players, colleagues, fans. Konstantin Evgenievich forever written himself in the history of our club.”

Previous reports had claimed that the cause of death of Konstantin Koltsov was a ‘detached blood clot’.

A detached blood clot, also known as an embolus, is a semi-solid mass of blood that has broken loose from its original location and traveled within the bloodstream to block flow in a different part of the body.

Konstantin Yevgeniyevich Koltsov was a Belarusian professional ice hockey player.

He played parts of three seasons with the Pittsburgh Penguins of the National Hockey League (NHL) between 2002 and 2006. Internationally Koltsov played for the Belarusian national team at the 2002 and 2010 Winter Olympics and at nine World Championships.

He served as an assistant coach for Salavat Yulaev Ufa in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL) as well as head coach for the Belarusian national team.

Koltsov started out playing for Junactva Minsk in the Belarusian 1st division during the 1997–98 season, and moved to Russian Severstal Cherepovets for the next season.

Due to his incredible speed and stick handling, he was often referred to as the “Russian Rocket II” due to his similar playing style to that of Russian great Pavel Bure.

Koltsov was drafted to the NHL in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft as the Pittsburgh Penguins’ first round pick, 18th overall.

He played for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins in the AHL in the 2002–03 season, and started playing full-time for the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 2003–04 season, playing 82 games and scoring nine goals and twenty assists.
